Against platforms like TikTok and Youtube, Twitter really isn’t the first choice when it comes to watching videos. But the social network is working on this aspect.

Twitter announces new updates to its platform, with the aim of providing a better video-watching experience for its users. The platform explains that “ videos feature prominently in public conversations “. Its purpose is therefore to optimize viewing and allow easier access to the most popular videos.

Immersive viewing

Immersive viewing will allow the user to watch the videos in full screen to provide the best possible experience. There will be no special manipulation to do, just click on the video and it will expand to fit the screen.

Once the full screen is launched, the user will be able to discover other popular content more easily. By swiping up, video proposals that might interest him will be displayed.

Those who don’t want to view the videos in full screen can also simply tap the back arrow in the upper left corner. This will take them back to the original tweet. This update will initially be available for iOS users who use Twitter in English.

The video carousel in “Explore”

Another update: the new video carousel in the “Explore” tab of Twitter. This option makes it easy to find the most popular or shared content on the social network, or simply the tweets and trends that may be of interest to the user.

Twitter announces that the carousel feature will be available for both iOS and Android users, but only for those with an English account and in certain countries (the list of which has not been disclosed).

As a reminder, the “Spaces” tab of Twitter had also recently had a facelift, with the integration of podcasts. The social network had announced:

From podcasts to newsletters and notes, we work every day to improve the way people connect with creators and to make Twitter the place for the most engaging conversations in the world. »

So, what’s next ?
