Vimeo has quickly adopted generative AI into its platform. In June 2023, the company added a suite of generative AI tools to optimize video creation. Today, Vimeo is shifting its AI efforts toward professionals with a new video hub.
On Thursday, Vimeo unveiled Vimeo Central, an AI-powered hub designed to enable professional teams to unlock the full potential of video communications with generative AI tools.
“In today’s era of remote work, effective team collaboration and employee engagement take on new urgency,” said Adam Gross, interim CEO of Vimeo. “With Vimeo Central, businesses of all sizes can become video-first organizations.

According to Vimeo, the video hub works in tandem with a client’s various video platforms – including Zoom, Webex, Google Drive, Dropbox and Box – to support uploading all content to a video library, centralized hub and secure.
This not only makes it easier to locate any video, but also allows teams to interact more productively with all video-related information by leveraging tools that can search not only video titles, but also their transcripts .
Vimeo Central also offers artificial intelligence tools to help users update information they are missing. For example, users can condense hours of video into a short video, avoiding the need to watch the entire video.
Generate text summaries, add chapters to videos, generate titles and FAQs
AI tools can also generate text summaries, add chapters to videos, generate titles and FAQs, and even answer questions by indicating the exact moment in the recording that users should watch to find their answers.
Vimeo Central also offers a recording studio with a built-in teleprompter, analytics tools to track team viewing data, including information on who watched what on the team, and a new editor to refine messages.
Although many video conferencing platforms such as Zoom and Otter.ai have implemented similar features, Vimeo’s offering stands out because it integrates videos from all platforms in one place, which makes it a streamlined platform. Vimeo Central is an offering reserved for businesses, but some of its features, including AI, are offered as a self-service subscription for the general public.
