HP Envy x360 reader-testers: seduced by the OLED screen!

I was eager to test a laptop equipped with an Oled screen and I was not disappointed!

The first observation is that the computer is very light and compact. I had given up on 15 inch laptops to take advantage of the lightness and compactness of 13 inches. But here, we must salute the integration work done by HP.

The screen is based on OLED display technology replacing the usual LCD. It’s a technology found on high-end phones. I was eager to test a laptop PC equipped with an Oled screen and I was not disappointed! It feels like the image is literally popping out of the screen, especially when there are large dark areas. Indeed, the depth of black brings out the brilliance and detail of other colors. The screen alone makes it worth opting for the 15-inch HP Envy x360.

The fluidity of movies and series in streaming is perfect. Everyone I showed the computer to with video on screen admired the beauty of the image. I also appreciated the anti-flickering which allows watching videos and reading on the web without feeling eye strain. To be honest, I even discovered details of clips I uploaded to YouTube in 1080p, even though I had seen them on the phone hundreds of times!

My only downside is the sound, which I don’t find powerful enough. As a family, we wanted to test the PC in tent mode. So we launched an animated film but, unfortunately, the sound was not loud enough.

On the network side, it’s very good too. I’m always on the go and I appreciated being able to connect the PC very easily to my smartphone. It also recharges very quickly via USB, which is very comfortable when you don’t stay in one place for long. In a situation of mobility, it is essential. I valid ! Also note that with a full charge, the Envy x360 allows a full working day without the need to recharge. That too is very much appreciated.

The ergonomics of the PC is also convincing. The backlit keyboard is beautiful, no need to get used to it. However, compared to my personal PC, an HP Specter 13, the finishes seem a little off to me. It’s a shame as many other elements on this PC are clearly very high end, such as the screen, keyboard, GeForce graphics card and processor.

Right from the start, the screen is really impressive.

This is my first experience as a tester… I received the PC in its original box, glossy black with the HP logo, which already gives off an impression of quality. Opening the box reveals no particular surprise. I find the computer safe in the center of the box.

The main surprise comes from the charger. I’m not completely new to HP computers — I’ve used two older models for my work, one of which had a flip-up touchscreen. The magazine is noticeably bigger on the Envy x360. If it’s not a big deal, I still wonder where I’m going to put it when I’m on the go all day. But maybe it won’t be necessary to carry the charger if the PC lasts a whole day… We’ll see as the test progresses.

Right from the start, the screen is really impressive. In the office, it is very pleasant. The latest version of Windows makes it possible to recover the configuration of my old machines in a few clicks. The business software and security certificates were therefore installed quickly and without difficulty.

Even with simple office applications, you can feel the power of the machine. For example, the spell checker works faster and more accurately than on a less efficient model. In videoconferencing, the sound is really very good, whether for me or for the interlocutor. A regular customer made me the reflection by telling me that I was heard better than usual.

The keyboard is well laid out and allows a good adaptation. It may be a bit noisy in use. The touchpad is always a sensitive subject for me… On some PCs, there is a mark between the part that clicks on the right and the part that clicks on the left. On this model, probably to meet design requirements, there is no longer this demarcation and I am a little lost. In addition, I regret the absence of a stylus which allows you to take full advantage of tablet mode.

On the other hand, very good surprise on the connection side. Two classic USB ports have been retained; so I can connect my security key without needing to add an accessory and carry it on the go.

One conclusion is already obvious at this stage: it is a beautiful, versatile, fast and functional computer.

Being able to tilt the screen 360° allows it to be used in all positions while maintaining perfect visibility.

This computer is perfect for the use I make of it, that is to say very versatile: Office suite (Word, Excel, Publisher), photo editing with Photoshop, video editing, a few games, a lot of video and music. Everything is fluid, without slowdowns or lags.

Versatile, it can be used in computer or tablet mode, which is very practical for quick note-taking on the move on the train, or even comfortably installed in my bed! Being able to tilt the screen 360° means it can be used in any position, sitting, half-lying or lying down, while maintaining perfect visibility.

The quality of the screen is really very good. The images are sharp and the colors vivid. The anti-flickering treatment prevents annoying reflections during viewing, which is very pleasant and relaxing for the eyes. The ergonomics are also very good, whether at the screen level or at the keyboard level, comfortable and intuitive. The only problem I encountered in terms of fluidity concerns the touchpad which sometimes has a small lag time when clicking.

Finally, the fact of being able to create several offices makes it possible to use it in personal and professional settings, independently, and thus to separate private life and professional life! This also allows you to lend it! My brother also uses it to play cards online and in tablet mode, it works perfectly!

In summary

Upon receipt, our reader-testers quickly took ownership of their HP Envy x360 15-ew0009nf computer so that they could use it in all circumstances. All received a version of the HP Envy x360 15-ew0009nf equipped with an Oled screen (other configurations without an Oled screen are offered by the manufacturer on its site) and were impressed by the quality of the screen, in use playful as well as professional. The ergonomics of the product is also there according to the testers who were able to use the PC in the different modes. The next feedback will be devoted to the communication and security aspect, the opportunity to test wireless technologies, storage, but also some more professional applications.
