HPI on TF1: why does Mehdi Nebbou (Karadec) shave his beard in the evening episode?

In episode 3 of season 3 of “HPI”, the character of Karadec sports a new look which does not fail to earn him some mockery from his colleagues. Discover the real reasons for this change.

It has now been two weeks since TF1 started broadcasting season 3 of HPI. This Thursday, May 25, from 9:10 p.m., viewers will also be able to find a new unpublished episode which sees Morgan (Audrey Fleurot) and Karadec (Mehdi Nebbou) once again having to combine their forces to solve a new investigation which this time will lead them into the world of rap.

They will try to find out who could have assassinated Naïama, a young rising star of rap. Tyrannical father, crooked manager, lookouts, dealers and shootings… Morgane will have to get out of this infernal whirlwind while reconnecting with Karadec.

A change of look… puzzling

At the very beginning of the episode, Karadec is peacefully preparing for her day’s work, when Roxane learns, in the course of a conversation, that Morgane is back in the Lille DIPJ team.

In his embarrassment, the policeman, who was shaving, slips and removes more hair than necessary. To make up for his mistake, he is forced to shave his beard entirely. This new beardless look will then earn him many taunts from his colleagues who had a hard time getting used to his new face.

Mehdi Nebbou, the interpreter of the character, will also keep this new look throughout the end of season 3. But is this new look really harmless?

Why did Mehdi Nebbou shave his beard?

Look changes in movies or series are rarely insignificant, especially when they take place in the middle of a season. If many would have thought that Mehdi Nebbou only wanted change, it is not so.

The shooting of season 3 of HPI took place over many months, the production having decided to shoot the episodes in two parts. The first two parts were thus shot in the summer, which allowed Morgane to abandon her multicolored down jackets for the first time for lighter outfits.

The following episodes, including episode 3, were filmed from November 2022 to March 2023. There was therefore a hiatus of several months during the filming of the season, which allowed the actors to work on d other projects.

And it turns out that Mehdi Nebbou took advantage of this break to shoot a series for Disney+ in which he had to be shaved. Last August, the actor was indeed announced in the casting of Tout va bien, a fiction carried by Virginie Efira.

Written by Camille de Castelnau (co-screenwriter of the Bureau des legendes) in collaboration with Gaëlle Bellan (Engrenages), Benjamin Adam (Paris police 1900) and Christophe Régin (The repair area), this series in 8 episodes immerses us in everyday life of an ordinary family faced with the serious illness of one of their children.

For the occasion, Mehdi Nebbou plays Louis, a man with whom Rose (Angèle Miele), the mother of the sick little girl, is going to have an affair. The scriptwriters of HPI therefore adapted to the needs of the actor, and integrated the new look without beard of Mehdi Nebbou into the plot of season 3 of HPI.
