After two and a half years of good and loyal service, it is time for the HS60 Pro Surround to bow out. So make way for the HS65 Surround: a new cuvée benefiting from a revisited design, but also from a few small additional features.
It took four years and two versions (HS60 and HS60 Pro) for Corsair to decide to truly modernize its line of wired gaming headsets. The change observable on this HS65 Surround is mainly reflected in the design of the headphones, which now opts for more rounded lines and an overall more modern design, like its wireless big brother HS80 Wireless. The overall weight of the helmet is affected, since it loses more than 40 g, to arrive at 260 g. No double headband here, however, the HS65 retaining a single metal-based and adjustable headband. Nevertheless, its microphone seems extremely similar to that of its elder, with a flat and flexible gooseneck, not detachable, but which can be more easily folded down / deactivated.

The connection remains the same, with a main mini-jack cable for use on a maximum of different platforms, and a USB sound card to benefit from additional features on PC and Mac, including Surround 7.1 signed Dolby. Corsair also highlights the presence of a feature offered by Sonarworks, a leading specialist in calibration solutions for headphones and monitoring speakers, allowing “calibrate headset settings to user preference”.
Behind this actually hides a fairly simple tool, the user being subjected to a series of listening tests which results in a personalized equalization correction, like what Jabra can offer with MySound or Sennheiser. with Sound Check on their true wireless headphones. The audio reproduction of the Corsair HS65 Surround is still provided by 50mm speakers, which are expected to deliver significantly better sound performance than previously offered.
