HSV stumbles in Sandhausen: The last one spoils the Rehhagel record for Werder

HSV stumbles in Sandhausen
The last one spoils the Rehhagel record for Werder

Top of the table and still unsatisfied: Werder Bremen let FC Ingolstadt, bottom of the second division, take 04 points. Northern rivals Hamburger SV also fail against a team from the basement, while Karlsruher SC can celebrate a dream goal and an away win.

SV Werder Bremen – FC Ingolstadt 04 1: 1 (0: 0)

Ole Werner missed the winning record of coach icon Otto Rehhagel at second division soccer team Werder Bremen. Against relegation candidate FC Ingolstadt, the Bundesliga relegated team did not go beyond a 1-1 (0-0) draw. The eighth success in a row was awarded despite numerous chances. The opening goal by Niclas Füllkrug (75′) was answered by Filip Bilbija (85′) with the equalizer for the Schanzer, who showed a committed performance and were by no means hiding on the Weser. “King Otto” Rehhagel had set the record in the 1980/81 season when Bremen also played in the second division and at the end of the season managed to return to the top flight.

Bremen found it very difficult against the FCI from the start. Ingolstadt stood up to them and even had chances to take the lead. Bilbija (36th/41st) missed two good chances for the Schanzer. In contrast, there was a crossbar header from Füllkrug (40th) for the home side. Füllkrug was then successful with a header after preparatory work by Anthony Jung, after Marvin Ducksch had carelessly missed the 1-0 for Werder in the 74th minute. Bilbija used a carelessness in the Bremen defense to compensate.

Due to the draw, SV Werder jumped back to the top of the table, but can be replaced by FC St. Pauli on Sunday. The Hamburgers have home rights against Hannover 96 (1.30 p.m. / Sky and in the live ticker on ntv.de).

SV Sandhausen – Hamburger SV 1: 1 (1: 0)

Promotion candidates Hamburger SV unexpectedly stumbled. At relegation candidate SV Sandhausen, the Hanseatic League did not get past a 1-1 (0-1) lead after problems before the break and despite the overwhelming superiority. The draw meant a damper for the guests in the race for the leap into the upper house, while Sandhausen was able to increase his cushion on the danger zone to two points, at least temporarily.

Pascal Testroet (15th) made the Kraichgau dream of another coup against HSV with his opening goal in front of 6932 fans. 14 minutes after the break, Sonny Kittel saved the Raute-Klub a point. In the early stages, the home side, playing in special kits to celebrate their second division affiliations, acted briskly with the tailwind of their recent winning streak of three games unbeaten. The reward for the commitment was the lead by SVS top scorer Testroet (15th).

He was able to overcome the best defense in the lower house at the first real chance of the game and mark his eighth goal of the season. The guests reacted at a loss and were lucky when a second goal by the hosts by Janik Bachmann (34th) was not recognized because of a previous handball.

HSV coach Tim Walter’s team came out of the dressing room after the break as if they had changed. The North Germans resolutely took command and earned the equalizer with Kittel’s seventh goal of the season. After that, Sandhausen let himself be pushed further and further back into his own half and did not set any more significant accents. Hamburg’s dominance, on the other hand, was overwhelming, although Walter’s team hardly had any compelling opportunities.

Holstein Kiel – Karlsruher SC 0: 2 (0: 1)

A dream goal by Daniel O’Shaughnessy was the highlight of Karlsruher SC’s 2-0 (1-0) win in the midfield duel at Holstein Kiel. The Finnish international with Irish roots was successful with a brilliant shot in the 17th minute to give KSC the lead. The defender had not been attacked and took heart from 25 meters in front of 7953 fans – and hit the goal corner. Fabian Schleusener (67th) increased for Baden in the second half.

Thanks to the three, Karlsruhe overtook the North Germans (31 points) in the table with 32 points. The hosts, who had recently won three times in a row, didn’t seem as determined as recently. The KSC invested a lot of willingness to run and made the rooms tight. Only after half an hour did the storks have their first good chance. Alexander Mühling, however, after preparatory work by Finn Porath and Fin Bartels, was unable to execute because his shot was blocked at the last moment.

Both teams played a respectable game and tried to force the decision with offensive actions. The Karlsruhe team always remained dangerous and used chances to counterattack again and again. Schleusener was lucky to make it 2-0 as the ball bounced back in front of his feet in the penalty area after a dribble and he was able to complete from eleven yards.
