League leaders experienced very bitter half-time

On the 14th matchday of the 2nd Bundesliga, feelings diverge widely in Hamburg: While HSV celebrates a clear, long-awaited home win, city rivals St. Pauli go under – and lose the championship lead. Kellerkind Aue celebrates an important away win and makes a jump.

Hamburger SV – Jahn Regensburg 4: 1 (1: 1)

Hamburger SV has prevented Jahn Regensburg from making the leap to the top of the table in the 2nd Bundesliga and has found a connection to the top. After the 4: 1 (2: 1) over the previous runner-up, which was also earned in height, the Hanseatic League are now undefeated eleven league games in a row and have the promotion zone in sight. In front of 25,000 spectators in the Volksparkstadion, Ludovit Reis (31st minute), Faride Alidou (45th), Sonny Kittel (65th / foul penalty) and Anssi Suhonen (87th) met for the strong hosts. Jan-Niklas Beste (33.) was successful for the too harmless guests, who slipped to fourth place in the table.

The Hamburg team took command right from the start and could have taken the lead early through Alidou (2nd / 9th) or Robert Glatzel (18th). Reis got them after Alidou’s dream pass with his second goal of the season. The Jahn was significantly more effective and almost equalized by the best of nothing. After Jattas rightly because of an offside denied goal, youngster Alidou ensured the well-deserved break lead with his first second division goal.

After the change, the encounter initially became more open. Andreas Albers (54th) for the guests and on the other hand Jatta (55th) just warped. After a video review, Kittel made it better from the point of view and made the preliminary decision. Captain Sebastian Schonlau hit the bar (83rd) before Joker Suhonen finally put the HSV fans in a celebratory mood with his goal premiere in League 2.

SV Darmstadt 98 – FC St. Pauli 4: 0 (4: 0)

A big playing SV Darmstadt 98 has wrested the championship lead from FC St. Pauli. Hamburg had to give up first place after the 0: 4 (0: 4) in Hesse for the first time since the 9th matchday, but still have a catch-up game to play.

Luca Pfeiffer with a brace (39th minute, 41st) as well as Phillip Tietz (6th) and Braydon Manu (29th) scored the goals in the sold-out stadium at Böllenfalltor with 13,000 spectators. The guests, who could never win ten games in Darmstadt, went as losers for the first time after four games and ten points. The lilies got off to a great start and took the lead with their first attack thanks to a shot from Tietz. Subsequently, the Südhessen were better in the game and increased after almost half an hour with a shot from Manu into the near corner. The hamburgers now had nothing to counter the offensive force of the hosts.

Shortly before half-time, Pfeiffer made the preliminary decision with a double strike: First he maneuvered the ball with the tip of his foot over the line. Then he headed to the spot after goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj let the ball ricochet forward.

Hansa Rostock – Erzgebirge Aue 1: 2 (1: 1)

Newcomer Hansa Rostock suffered a setback in the fight to stay in the league. After two previous wins, coach Jens Härtel’s team lost to FC Erzgebirge Aue in an exciting game 1: 2 (1: 1) at home. John Verhoek (37th / foul penalty) scored the only goal for the hosts who conceded their fourth home defeat in front of 21,750 spectators in the Ostseestadion. Nicolas Kühn (19th) and Antonio Jonjic (66th) scored for the Saxons, who left the relegation ranks.

In front of a splendid backdrop, Hanno Behrens could have brought the home side, who had been in the best cast, into the lead early on. After a corner from Nik Omladic, the midfielder’s header landed on the left post (6th). Aues Kühn aimed better. The midfielder, on loan from FC Bayern Munich, completed a remarkable counterattack by the guests – their only chance in the first half – with a cold shot with a shot in the lower right corner.

It took Hansa some time to deal with the setback and a standard to compensate for it more than it deserved. Verhoek sent Aue’s goalkeeper Martin Männel into the right corner and shot flat into the left. This was the ninth goal of the season for the center forward. The Rostock team clearly set the tone even after the restart. Nothing that could be counted jumped out of the playfully considerable efforts. Aue was much more effective and took the lead again. Hansa coach Härtel reacted with new staff, but that also rarely embarrassed the guests’ compact defense.
