Xiaomi and Huawei were at the top for a few months, but now a smartphone climber that we all already know is taking the crown. Honor used to be a subsidiary of Huawei. The company is now independent and has now launched the best camera smartphone in the world. But there is a small catch.
Honor Magic 4 Ultimate takes the top spot
Honor no longer belongs to Huawei and is therefore no longer affected by US sanctions. With the Honor Magic 4 and Magic 4 Pro, new high-end smartphones were presented at the MWC 2022, which are coming to Germany without any software or hardware restrictions. In China there is still the Honor Magic 4 Ultimate and that’s exactly what took the camera throne. Overall, the smartphone achieves 146 points in DxOMark:
The Huawei P50 Pro comes in second with 144 points, and the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra comes in third with 143 points. So far, the camera testers have only published the points and some details about the camera test. If the rating is up to you, then do it the Honor Magic 4 Ultimate almost perfect pictures. The zoom also achieves the best score so far. The Honor smartphone only has to make cuts when it comes to videos. The recordings are not as stable and consistent as one would expect.
The outstanding image quality according to DxOMark is achieved by the much larger main sensor of the Honor Magic 4 Ultimate’s camera. While the Magic 4 Pro has a 1/1.56 inch sensor installed, the Ultimate model a larger 1/1.12 inch sensor with a new 8P lens and f/1.6 aperture. In combination with the image processor and the software, this should result in the best photos that DxOMark has ever taken with a smartphone.

What’s the catch with the Honor Magic 4 Ultimate?
Honor just introduced the Magic 4 Ultimate in China, it’s supposed to be there will be sold later in the year for the equivalent of 1,137 euros. We only announced the Magic 4 and Magic 4 Pro, which should appear in the summer. The best camera smartphone should therefore not find its way to us. Nevertheless, this is a good view of the Magic 4 Pro, which should also take excellent photos and is actually sold by us.
