A leaker on Weibo has just revealed that HarmonyOS could be entitled to a new version from the end of the second quarter of 2022, around July. According to him, HarmonyOS 3.0 would arrive with new flagship products from the Chinese manufacturer. By the end of March, Huawei is reportedly holding a mini press conference where the company is expected to provide more details on its upcoming products. It was originally thought that HarmonyOS 3.0 would be unveiled at the end of 2021, but we will have to wait until the second quarter of 2022.

At the moment, it is not known exactly which products could be unveiled alongside the new version of HarmonyOS.. It could be a new high-end smartphone Huawei Mate 50, whose release has been postponed to 2022, or products intended for the connected home.

What do we know about HarmonyOS 3.0?

HarmonyOS 3.0 is already available for some users in China since October 2021, in the form of Developer Preview. It is therefore not a beta version strictly speaking, but a version intended for application developers. They can install it to ensure that their applications are compatible with the new system. HarmonyOS 3.0 continues to innovate around three fundamental areas: system architecture, the “super terminal” and the unique development of multi-terminal deployment.

As you probably know, HarmonyOS has the advantage that it can be deployed to many different devices, from smartphones to tablets, connected watches, smart home objects and even cars. Indeed, Huawei recently revealed that it wanted to compete with Android Auto thanks to HarmonyOS Smart Cockpit, its own car OS.

HarmonyOS 3.0 promises to be particularly optimized, since this new version would be faster than Xiaomi’s MIUI 13 interface, which is one of the fastest overlays on Android. Huawei fans in Europe could also soon enjoy HarmonyOS, since Huawei would finally be on the verge of deploying its alternative to Android at home in 2022.
