This Wednesday, on the occasion of the launch of the Huawei P50 Pro and P50 Pocket, the Chinese manufacturer also announced the arrival in France of a new connected watch intended for its sports users, the Huawei Watch GT Runner.

This watch is in line with the firm’s health monitoring watches and therefore succeeds the Huawei Watch GT 3 launched last fall in France. We will therefore find very similar characteristics with the on-board HarmonyOS system, a 1.43-inch diameter Oled screen with a density of 326 pixels per inch, a ceramic border around the screen with a rotating crown on the right side in addition to the button used to launch the exercises. Of course, the watch will measure heart rate or blood oxygen saturation, but these measurements have been improved according to Huawei.

The manufacturer indicates that it has switched to even more precise GPS tracking, thanks to the integration of antennas on the crown of the watch. For geolocation, the Huawei Watch GT Runner is also compatible not only with GPS satellites, but also with Galileo, Glonass, BDS and QZS. Unlike many smartwatches on the market, Huawei’s smartwatches already have an excellent reputation for tracking GPS tracks. This improvement is therefore welcome and can help strengthen the manufacturer on this measure.

Functions more designed for sport

In addition to GPS tracking, Huawei has also improved heart rate and SpO2 tracking on the Watch GT Runner. To do this, the firm has upgraded to version 5.0 of its TruSeen sensor. What allow him not only a more precise monitoring of the heart rate, but also the measurement of more data such as VO2 Max, the aerobic threshold. Workout programs are also offered with daily workouts and suggested recovery days.

While the design of the Huawei Watch GT Runner is a little more aggressive than previous models, it retains a relatively classic look for a sports-oriented watch. It is also quite light with 38.5 grams on the scale. Note also the presence of an announced autonomy of two weeks – thanks to the 451 mAh battery – and a certified 5 ATM waterproofness which will allow it to be immersed at a shallow depth.

The Huawei Watch GT Runner will be available this Wednesday in two colors: black and gray. It will be offered at 299.99 euros, a price higher than that of the Huawei Watch GT 3, offered at 229 or 249 euros depending on the version. In addition, from January 26 to February 14, the watch benefits from an immediate reduction of 30 euros with the code “AHWSGTRR30” on Huawei’s website.
