In parallel with the elegant MateBook latest generation Intel processors.
The ultraportable for young professionals is a bit of the credo of the new MateBook 14, at least if we stick to Huawei’s language elements. Spiritual son of the MateBook 14S that we tested at the end of 2021, the device does better than its ancestor in almost all respects, without changing its design.
Matebook 14: a balanced ultraportable
It is in terms of display that the device progresses the most, with the introduction of an OLED panel instead of the IPS that we previously knew on this range. This 2.8K touch screen (2880 by 1920 pixels) is supposed to fully cover the DCI-P3 color space and offer perfect colorimetric accuracy with a DeltaE less than 1. For the rest, there is a maximum luminance of 450 nits and the infinite blacks of OLED technology.
Unlike the more high-end MateBook We nevertheless remain on a compact and relatively light product: 14.5 mm thick for 1.31 kg on the scale.

OLED and “Meteor Lake” chips
Under the hood, we find Intel “Meteor Lake” processors. On this MateBook 14, Huawei gives us the choice between a Core Ultra 5 or a Core Ultra 7, coupled in all cases with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB or 1 TB of SSD. The brand also mentions a maximum TDP of 40W, and a pair of “Shark Fin” fans for cooling.
On the battery side, the MateBook 14 finally has a 70 Wh battery capable of offering up to 19 hours of battery life in video playback. Huawei specifies, however, that this estimate is based on 1080p playback, locally. We will have plenty of time to test this new model in the coming weeks to give you a more precise estimate of the device’s performance and endurance.
The Huawei MateBook 14 is expected in France from 1,099 euros for the Ultra 5/16 GB RAM/512 GB SSD version. The best equipped model (Ultra 7/16 GB of RAM/1 TB of SSD) will arrive at a price of 1,399 euros.
