The announcement was expected. On the occasion of the launch in China of its new Huawei P60 range, the Chinese manufacturer also lifted the veil on some accessories. This is particularly the case for its new open headphones, the Huawei FreeBuds 5, but also for its new high-end connected watch, the Huawei Watch Ultimate.

Like the Apple Watch Ultra, the Huawei Watch Ultimate is aimed at the very high end segment. And like its American competitor, it relies above all on advanced extreme sports functions to do this. The Huawei Watch Ultra thus includes not only the classic functions expected for a connected watch, but also dive computer functions.

Functions specifically dedicated to diving

In addition to the two buttons on the right side, classic for a Huawei watch, it also benefits from a button on the left side serving as a shortcut for dive mode. In detail, this mode will allow you to enjoy three types of dives: freediving, technical diving or recreational diving.

The watch will in particular be able to assess the depth of the user, allow the setting of a dive time, warn the user of the duration or depth, display reminders and take into account the different decompression stops. necessary depending on the time spent underwater and the depth.

To allow these diving functions, Huawei indicates that it has used a zirconium case, reputed to be more resistant than titanium, especially against corrosion. The watch is also certified 10 ATM, for a theoretical dive up to 100 meters deep.

Around the round 1.5-inch LTPO Amoled screen, Huawei has also integrated a fixed ceramic bezel, which differs depending on the version – with information associated with the compass for the black model and decompression time markings for the blue version.

Advanced sports functions

The Huawei Watch Ultimate also benefits from more classic functions for a connected watch. In particular, we will find position tracking by different GNSS constellations (GPS, Galileo, BeiDou, Glonass, QZSS) with dual frequency compatibility, heart rate and blood oxygenation tracking, a reverse navigation function for return to your starting point on a trail or hike – but without mapping – and even an orange display of activity data to remain discreet in the middle of the night.

In addition, like previous Huawei watches, the Watch Ultimate allows export of training data to Strava, Komoot or Runtastic as well as the creation of training programs or the customization of training views, as on sports watches. more classic.

The Huawei Watch Ultimate incorporates a battery allowing, according to the firm, up to 14 days of autonomy in standard use, and 8 days with more intensive use. It also includes an electrocardiogram function – available from the launch in France – as well as a microphone and a speaker to answer a call directly from the watch. However, Huawei watch requires, note that the number of applications available for download is limited to say the least and that replies to messages received can only be done with pre-recorded messages from the watch.

The Huawei Watch Ultimate is already available in China. It will be available in France from April 3 in two versions, both with a 46mm case. The black version will be offered with a flexible HNBR bracelet, priced at 749.99 euros, while the blue model will be associated with a metal bracelet at a price of 899.99 euros.
