Huawei presented its new 11-inch MatePad Pro 2024 tablet in a press release. It is equipped with satellite communication technology, a first for this type of device.
What distinguishes the 11-inch MatePad Pro 2024 from all comers, it is the unprecedented capacity to make or receive satellite calls, a feature which is until now only offered on a handful of smartphones, including the Mate 60 Pro or even on Apple’s iPhone 14. If few smartphones still offer satellite communication, 2024 should be the year of integration of this technology into mid-high-end phones.
Before we return to this revolutionary technology which will sweep the Chinese market and the world, let us first look at the technical sheet of the new Huawei tablet. With its screen diagonal of 11 inches, the new MatePad Pro is, according to Huawei, the thinnest digital slate of this formatt, with 5.9 mm thickness and 449 grams, “it offers an incredibly elegant and lightweight design”. The slab benefits from the OLED technology and covers 92% of the face front of the device.

Inside, we find the same Kirin 9000 s chip as the Huawei Mate 60 Pro, but in a “downgraded” version. Its charging capacity stands at 66W, and interested customers must choose between 256 or 512 GB storage, while the amount of RAM is set at 12Go. The price of this tablet which will only be offered in China for the moment is Around €600 for the 12/256 GB version and €670 for the 12/512 GB option.

The great novelty of the MatePad Pro 11 2024 is of course without theadoption of two-way satellite communications. To do this, the Chinese company relies on the infrastructure of BeiDou high-orbit satellites. We can question the interest of offering bidirectional satellite communications on a tablet, but the combination of finesse and technology embedded in the tablet means that once again, Huawei is a pioneer in its field.
