Despite this format, the P50 Pocket has few technical compromises. It is equipped with an OLED screen whose variable refresh rate can go up to 120 Hz, 6.9 inches diagonally for the large screen in definition 2790 x 1188 pixels. You will also have noticed the small screen on the front, 1.04 inch (60 Hz) touchscreen in definition 340 x 340 pixels. Regarding performance, Huawei has chosen the Snapdragon 888 in 4G only. No 5G, certainly because of US restrictions, but a powerful 2021 processor. With 8 GB or 12 GB of RAM, 256 or 512 GB of storage, the P50 Pocket ultimately makes few compromises. It also has Wi-Fi 6 as well as Bluetooth 5.2 (BLE, SBC, AAC, LDAC), not to mention NFC.

Regarding on-board cameras, there are 3:

  • Wide-angle: 40 megapixel True-Chroma Camera (f / 1.8)
  • Ultra wide-angle: 13 megapixels (f / 2.2)
  • Dedicated camera for photos in brightness: 32 mega-pixel Ultra Spectrum Camera (f / 1.8)

The main camera can shoot in 4K, it also has Full HD @ 960fps slow motion mode. Note that Huawei has made the effort to use the circular camera module of its other smartphones. On the other hand, there is no telezoom camera, the front camera is “only” of 10.7 megapixels (f / 2.2).

As for the battery … it is announced at 4000 mAh. This is undoubtedly the most sensitive point of the smartphone, the weak point of the Z Flip 3. It will be necessary to test the smartphone to have a precise idea of its autonomy. You can still count on SuperCharge technology with 40 Watts wired for a very fast charge.

Huawei’s announcement only mentions a Chinese launch, and it’s unclear if or when the P50 Pocket could see a global release. It will nevertheless be cut off from 5G and Google services … Difficult to get by on the global market with these two handicaps.
