Huawei is rumored to be working on a folding phone for just 700 euros. Compared to the much more expensive Samsung models Flip and Fold, you have to make compromises.

  • Huawei is said to be working on a new version of the P50 Pocket.
  • According to rumours, this will only cost the equivalent of 700 euros.
  • It would be the cheapest foldable to date.

If you want to buy a foldable, you usually have to pay well over 1,000 euros for it. For example, Samsung is asking 1,099 euros for the Galaxy Z Flip 4, and at least 1,799 euros for the Fold 4. A folding cell phone for 700 euros looks like a price breaker. According to rumors, Huawei is now working on such a device.

This emerges from a leaked promo poster circulating on the Chinese short message service Weibo. As Gizmochina reports, the picture shows the Huawei P50 Pocket in a new version, which is expected to go on sale from 4,999 yuan (equivalent to 717 euros).

Huawei launched the original model in spring 2022 for a whopping 1,600 euros. It is a foldable phone in the style of the Galaxy Z Flip 4. For the lower price, however, you have to make some compromises with the new version. The mobile phone no longer has an external display.

Also interesting…

Gizmochina could not verify the authenticity of the poster, but a new variant of the P50 Pocket has already been discovered in the database of the Chinese approval authority TENAA. It remains to be seen whether Huawei will really offer it for this comparatively low price.
