During its conference at MWC 2022, the Chinese manufacturer launched its Huawei MatePad Paper, a reading light
10.3 inches that gives the impression of holding a book (particularly thin and light). Quickly, Huawei also presented its new Tablet
MatePad, capable of displaying four applications simultaneously.

In parallel with these announcements, the new range of Huawei laptops was also presented, as well as the Super Connectivity mode for the Huawei Smart Office, the new era of intelligent collaboration between the Chinese manufacturer’s devices.

The Huawei MatePad Paper, a small pocket book

As part of its Huawei MatePad series, the Chinese manufacturer has unveiled a reading light with a worked design to make the reading experience more immersive. It is thus equipped with a 10.3-inch E-Ink screen, to provide a large display area, with an 86.3% screen ratio which is explained by its thick border on the left side.

So you can hold the eReader like an open book, with one hand, with its cover rolled up on its spine. Of course, the device is thinner and lighter, with its 360 grams. And the manufacturer insisted on the quality of the display which reproduces the natural experience of paper, even in direct sunlight.

But the Huawei MatePad Paper reader does not stop there and allows the user to take notes in three ways. First of all, by voice thanks to the voice recording functionality, but also thanks to the input via the virtual keyboard which can be displayed on the screen. Finally, it is possible to use handwriting.

Made with the second generation Huawei M-Pencil, this entry can be kept as it is on a split screen, or converted into text by the tablet, which runs on Harmony OS 2.

For the moment, no release date has been communicated, but the reader is announced at 499 euros, with only one possible configuration: 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage space. The MatePad Paper reader will be available in three colors: black, khaki and blue. The second generation Huawei M-Pencil and cover will be included.
