Huawei would launch a new version of the P50 Pocket at a low price

A revisited and cheaper Huawei P50 Pocket could be launched by the brand, which is also about to officially announce, almost a year after the scheduled date, its Mate 50.

A few months ago, Huawei launched its P50 Pocket, the brand’s first folding clamshell smartphone, a competitor in particular to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 3. A new model of foldable screen mobile adopting this design has been spotted on the site of TENAA, a Chinese certification body.

According to informant Alvin (@sondesix on Twitter), this is not an improvement on the P50 Pocket or a true successor, but a more affordable version of the P50 Pocket, which should therefore compromise on the data sheet in order to be sold at a more attractive price. The price of the P50 Pocket, marketed in France from 1299 euros, did not encourage the purchase of this smartphone. Samsung, which enjoys a better image than Huawei, which has Google services and the Play Store, and which has the reputation of being the number 1 brand for folding smartphones, is indeed selling its latest Galaxy Z Flip 4 at 1109 euros , while the Galaxy Z Flip 3 may be on sale at a much lower price. Huawei must therefore react by offering better value for money for its P50 Pocket.

A cheaper Huawei P50 Pocket… and finally the launch of the Mate 50?

TENAA’s images show a dual-color design and a camera block that looks more understated than on the original P50 Pocket, but still with three cameras. We see badly on the visuals, but it is possible that this new model is not equipped withsecondary screenyet very useful when the smartphone is folded on itself.

Huawei is due to hold an event on September 6, during which the Mate 50 should be announced, the release of which had been postponed from 2021 to 2022, no doubt due to the shortage of components coupled with the consequences of American sanctions against the builder. Huawei could take the opportunity to communicate on this new P50 Pocket on this occasion.
