Huawei would prepare a cheaper alternative to the Apple Vision Pro

The Apple Vision Pro is packed with cutting-edge technology, as iFixit has proven to us. Except that such equipment has a price and the Cupertino company’s competitors are well aware of this. It is precisely rumored that the Chinese firm Huawei is preparing its own mixed reality headset, but at a much lower price.

Mark Zuckerberg is not the only one who wants to challenge the Vision Pro with his Meta Quest. According to Li Nan, Huawei would develop its competitor. On the social network Weibo, the former marketing director of Meizu indicates that this model should be more pleasant to wear than that of the Apple, weighing 350 g compared to 650 g.

Li Nan also mentions a micro-Oled 4K panel from Sony and a chip designed by Huawei, like the Kirin SoCs of its smartphones. Control of the headset would be done by gestures. To be continued, because EyeSight technology, which is making a lot of noise among Apple Vision Pro users, has no equivalent from the Chinese manufacturer.

Above all, Huawei would like to differentiate itself from Apple in terms of price. While the Vision Pro is marketed at $3,500, the Chinese model would be priced at around $2,000 (15,000 yuan). Its presentation would take place at the end of 2024.

Vision Pro versus Vision Pro?

Huawei Central understands that its name will be Huawei Vision Pro, knowing that “Vision Pro†was registered in China in 2019 by the company and that Apple therefore does not have authorization to sell its mixed reality headset under this nickname in the Middle Kingdom. Two options for the Californian company: change its name for Chinese users or negotiate with Huawei.
