Launched in China in September 2021, we learned last weekend, during MWC 2022, that Huawei’s first printer, called PixLab X1, would soon be released elsewhere in Europe. Count around 329 euros to get your hands on it all the same according to NoteBookCheck.

It runs on HarmonyOS, Huawei’s interface supposed to allow it to definitely do without Android. Huawei’s plan is therefore proceeding as planned. Indeed, one of the promises displayed at the launch of Harmony OS, was based on its ability to run as much on over-equipped machines, such as smartphones, as on many small everyday objects… such as a printer for example.

What to expect from the Huawei printer?

What does the Huawei PixLab X1 offer? There is already a certain level of finish in the design, with a touch panel cleverly integrated into the rest of the case.

Beyond its aesthetic considerations, the Huawei PixLab X1 can output 28 pages per minute and can make copies and scans.

It goes without saying that using a Huawei device with this printer seems a wise choice, since it is specifically designed to interact at the top of its form with the devices of the brand’s ecosystem.

A feature to display a “pop up” to associate your phone with the printer, but as we only see Huawei devices in the presentation video, it is difficult to know if it works on other machines. If you fell for a MateBook, it may be interesting.

The same goes for the “Tap to Print” which uses the NFC chip to print a document directly, just by applying your phone to a sensor on the left of the printer. Does it work off Huawei phone? This remains to be proven.

Of course, the PixLab X1 remains a classic printer that can work via WLAN. The change of cartridges, a thorny subject for anyone who has tried the adventure of a home printer in the last decade, involves relatively large Toner at first sight, which can be extracted with a simple press, once the box is open.

Huawei PixeLab X1 price and availability

The Huawei PixLab X1 printer is available on the Huawei website. It should cost around 329 euros.
