Huawei’s new watch also hides wireless headphones


Huawei has unveiled its Watch Buds, a connected watch that houses a pair of wireless headphones behind its screen.

The announcement was expected, it finally took place on Monday, December 12. Huawei has unveiled its new smartwatch, the Huawei Watch Buds, a smartwatch that doubles as, as the name suggests, a pair of wireless headphones.

The Huawei Watch Buds is indeed both a connected watch and a wireless earphone box. A system that is reminiscent of the manufacturer’s TalkBand range, connected bracelets whose sensor could be removed and placed in the ear to turn into a Bluetooth headset.

On the side of the watch itself, the Huawei Watch Buds has a 1.43 inch diameter Oled screen, with a definition of 466 x 466 pixels and with a stainless steel case and a 22 mm leather strap. of width. It benefits from a 410 mAh battery with up to three days of autonomy and various health sensors. Thus, the watch is able to analyze sleep cycles, measure heart rate or blood oxygen saturation and analyze stress levels. In addition, the watch is equipped with the same HarmonyOS 3 system as the Huawei Watch 3 Pro and Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro.

A watch that can charge headphones

The originality of the Watch Buds comes when you lift the screen of the watch using a dedicated button to discover the earphones stored inside. They have a particularly miniaturized format with a weight of 4 grams per earphone and touch surfaces at the end for playback controls. For the transducers of its headphones, Huawei used here speakers equipped with four magnets. The firm has also equipped them with an active noise reduction function, without however detailing it.

Of course, in addition to charging in the watch, it is also possible to control the headphones directly from your wrist, whether to answer a call, change audio source between a smartphone and the watch, or ring the headphones to find them. Note that the watch itself is however not equipped with a microphone or a speaker to make calls.

The Huawei Watch Buds have so far only been announced in China, where they come in two colors: black or metallic grey. It is already offered there at a price of 2988 yuan, or 406 euros excluding tax. For the time being, it is not known whether Huawei intends to offer this new watch and the headphones that accompany it on the French market.
