As promised several weeks ago, the “New Game+” is appearing in God of War Ragnarok, to allow you to restart the game while keeping your equipment. Other new features are on the program for version 4.0.
Fans of Kratos, Atreus and Freya, it’s time to revive God of War Ragnarok. Update 4.0 of the game released on PS4 and PS5 in November, available since April 5, 2023, brings a lot of new things to the title of Santa Monica. After installing an 847 MB patch on your console, you will notably gain the “New Game+” mode as well as several interesting new features, such as a black and white mode or a large number of armors. Of course, the update is free.
A new game without losing your equipment
The New Game+ mode, awaited by fans of the game for several months, allows you to start a new story without starting from scratch. Armor, weapons, accessories, improvements… Everything is kept despite the return to the beginning of the story. All gear can be upgraded from level 9 to level 9+, while Kratos or Atreus max health level is bigger.
On its site, Sony specifies that the arrows will not be accessible immediately before this mode. You have to earn them throughout the story.
A new arena for training
In New Game+ mode, the Niflheim arena is bigger. It also allows you to create character combos, to embody Kratos or Atreus, but with Atreus, Freya, Brok (?), Sindri, Angrboda, Thor or Thrúd as an ally.
Black and white, for style
Another novelty in the settings of God of War Ragnarok : a black and white mode to eliminate color. This is not an accessibility setting but a style choice, for movie fans.
Lots of new equipment
Finally, the 4.0 update of god of war includes new armors, including some from the 2018 game (Armor of Ares, Armor of Zeus, etc.). There is also a new shield (Spartan Aspis). The full list can be viewed on the PlayStation site. Several enchantments are also there, to make the fights more technical. The developers also say that it is also making some fights harder in New Game+ mode. Enough to make you want to go back on god of war for 30 hours or more?
