Two years after the film for "Downton Abbey", part two is in the works. Hugh Bonneville can't wait to start filming.

Five years after the series finale and two years after the movie, a "Downton Abbey" sequel should be in the works. Actor Hugh Bonneville (57), known to fans of the series as Robert Crawley, revealed in an interview with a BBC radio show that he had already seen the script for the second film. He confirmed that the entire cast was keen to start filming as soon as everyone received the corona vaccination.

Filming begins "when everyone accepts the vaccination"

"If everyone who is offered it accepts the vaccination, we can make a movie," he told radio host Zoe Ball. "We're going to make a movie. It's like it always is: the odds are, and then this thing called comes along Coronavirus and knocks everything over. " Preparations cannot begin until the virus is sensibly under control, said Bonneville, who can also be seen in the "Paddington" films.

The intention to make the film is definitely there, explains the actor further: "We would love to do it, we really want it." He promises that the sequel will be just as "enjoyable" for viewers as the first, especially after "this mess we've all been through".

Hugh Bonneville was from 2010 to 2015 in all six seasons of the hit series "Downton Abbey", which comes from the pen of Julian Fellowes, as head of the aristocratic Crawley family. The first film adaptation, which hit the big screen in 2019, was an equally big hit at the box office, with grossing nearly $ 200 million.
