Hugh Jackman has been inseparable from Wolverine since the first X-Men released in 2000. The film pioneered the way it told the story of multiple super-powered heroes working together, something that would be replicated in Marvel’s The Avengers over a decade later.

Since X-Men, Hugh Jackman has portrayed James Howlett – aka Logan, aka Wolverine – on the big screen 8 more times, including in 2017’s critically acclaimed Logan, which reportedly brought a point end to the character’s story.

And yet, last month, Marvel fans received unexpected news: Hugh Jackman will return as Wolverine in Deadpool 3, alongside Ryan Reynolds. The wait is now over.

Another rather unexpected piece of information? As reported by ComingSoon and Screenrant, when asked by Variety about his favorite superhero movie, the actor’s answer is clear: no Marvel in sight!

My favorite superhero movie. Growing up, the first Superman. It changed the game. Film by Dick Donner, Christopher Reeve. I’ll say, I’m thinking of one of Nolan’s Batmans. I’ll say The Dark Knight.

Superman (1978) by Richard Donner while growing up and The Dark Knight by Christopher Nolan more recently: that is what is said! So, despite the actor’s long history with Marvel, his favorite superhero movies are DC properties!

The comedian also revealed the movie that scared him the most in his youth. “Scariest movie I watched growing up… Oh, Salem’s Vampires !he replied, a 1979 TV movie adapted from Stephen King’s 1975 horror novel of the same name.

I don’t remember if it was a huge hit, but my brother watched it with me and then he played this game: we used to share a room where he literally hid under my bed for a month every night before going to sleep. He was just doing a little thing [toucher le matelas sous le lit avec son doigt] and it was something light”, recalls Hugh Jackman. “But I had seen that movie and I was terrified until finally I was like, ‘This time I have to watch,’ and sure enough, there he was. Salem’s vampires… and my brother!
