Hulk: When will we see Marvel’s green colossus in the cinema again?

On July 23, 2008, The Incredible Hulk laid the second brick on the road that would lead the Marvel Cinematic Universe to the first Avengers reunion. And the heights of the box office. Directed by Louis Leterrier, the film rebroadcast this Tuesday, September 10 on 6Ter was carried by Edward Norton… who didn’t last long.

True to his reputation as a complicated actor, he had rewritten several scenes on set and began to criticize the result before it was even released. Which led Marvel Studios to part ways with him and replace him with Mark Ruffalo when it came time to assemble the Avengers. Between 2012 and 2021, he appeared eight times as Bruce Banner and his alter ego in the cinema. As well as in the series She-Hulk (physically) and What If…? (vocally).

And then? Good question! Rumors are talking about an appearance in Captain America: Brave New World, on February 14, to help Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) against Thaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford) who has become the Red Hulk. But that’s just a rumor and there’s absolutely nothing official about it. No more than Mark Ruffalo has any concrete projects at Marvel.

And the possibility of a solo film seeing the light of day is still unlikely, because Universal, which distributed Ang Lee’s adaptation in 2003, still has a right to look at this type of feature film, even if the character belongs to Marvel Studios. Which explains why The Incredible Hulk was left without a sequel and why the MCU gives the impression of not knowing what to do with Bruce Banner, who appears here and there between two Avengers episodes.

At the Avengers and…?

We can therefore logically hope to see him again in Doomsday then Secret Wars, on April 29, 2026 and May 5, 2027, since the two films should bring together all the characters of the MCU. For the rest, it is very vague. On the small as on the big screen, since the probability of seeing a season 2 of She-Hulk is today low.

We are obviously not immune to seeing him pop up in one project or another, as Bruce Banner or in the guise of his colossal alter ego. But we must admit that, at the moment, we do not know exactly where, when and how Mark Ruffalo will sign his next appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So be patient.
