- Ukrainian president to address UN Security Council on Wednesday, of which Russia is a permanent member, for the first time since the start of the war. Volodymyr Zelensky is among the first to speak at this special meeting under the Albanian presidency during which more than sixty speakers are planned.
- Ukraine says it shot down seventeen of twenty-four Shahed drones launched by Russian forces, in its report daily at the start of the day, Wednesday.
- The death toll from the bombing in Kupiansk rose to eight. A previous report reported six people killed. “The two dead are volunteers who evacuated people”said the governor of the Kharkiv region, Oleh Synehoubov.
- Three cross-border villages in Russia’s Belgorod region bombed by the Ukrainian armed forces, according to authorities. Belgorod Oblast Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov on Wednesday deplored the death of a civilian whose car was hit by a shell.
- Olena Zelenska calls for the return of 19,000 “kidnapped” children. Only 386 were brought back to Ukraine, the Ukrainian first lady said during a conference Tuesday at United Nations headquarters.
- A diesel fuel tank caught fire in Sochi. “The area of the fire is 96 square meters. According to initial information, there are no victims,” announced the governor of the Krasnodar Territory, Beniamin Kondratiev, on Telegram.
- The Russian president will meet the Chinese foreign minister. Vladimir Putin will meet Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in St. Petersburg on Wednesday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
