“Humiliated”: she only learns after the birth of her daughter the origin of the first name chosen by her husband

The choice of a child’s first name can sometimes be a source of conflict for parents. This is the story told by a father on a community site…

Everything seemed to have gone well for this couple, happy parents of a little girl. They had agreed on the choice of the first name of their newborn, whom they both wanted to call Laurel. However, the young mother was disillusioned when she found out where the idea had come from of her husband, as he recounts on a community site, whose Mirror echoes this Thursday, September 29. A discovery she made when she and her spouse received a visit from one of their aunts, three months after the birth of their daughter.

“While we were talking, [la tante] asked us how we came up with our daughter’s name, as it was not ‘traditional’, according to her”explains the young dad. “My wife and I both suggested several names during the pregnancy. We both agreed that we wanted something pretty, quite unique so that there are probably not two in his class, fairly normal so that no one thought it was weird, and nothing trendy that would go ‘outdated’he continues.

“She thinks I betrayed her trust and humiliated her”

The aunt then asked where the first name Laurel came from. “My wife turned to me and asked where I had found it, continues the user before continuing, I replied that it was from a comic strip. Information that had not been brought to the attention of his companion. Once, the aunt left, an argument broke out between the couple. “My wife was furious. She asked why I hid this from her. I did not do it. I didn’t even realize I never told him where I saw the name until now. She thinks I betrayed her trust and that I humiliated her, he laments. Another Internet user then asked him if his wife was upset that the first name was taken from a comic book or that he had not told her where it came from. “She’s upset with both. She said she wouldn’t have chosen it if she had known, because it’s embarrassing. But she didn’t tell me or ask me, so I didn’t know…”, he concludes.
