  • US President’s son Hunter Biden has pleaded guilty to several tax offenses in the proceedings against him.
  • This was reported by several US media outlets, including CNN and NBC, from the court in Los Angeles.
  • The 54-year-old is accused of not having paid federal taxes properly for several years.

By pleading guilty, Hunter Biden is avoiding a trial that was supposed to begin on Thursday with jury selection. CNN and NBC reported that sentencing in the case is now scheduled for December 16.

At the start of the court session in Los Angeles, Hunter Biden offered the judiciary an unusual proposal. He wanted a plea deal in which he would not have pleaded guilty in the traditional sense, but would have acknowledged that the evidence would probably lead to a guilty verdict. The prosecution rejected the proposal. This was followed by a traditional guilty plea from Hunter Biden. He had previously pleaded not guilty in the case.

In December, Hunter Biden was charged with several tax offenses. He was accused of spending millions on an extravagant lifestyle instead of paying his tax bills.
