Hurricane 2022: Those who come with the 9-euro ticket will probably have to pay more for the beer

FESTIVALS IN LIVE STREAM

If you travel to the Hurricane Festival with the 9-euro ticket, you probably have to pay more for the beer. The reason for this are restrictions in the transport conditions of the Metronom regional train.

  • Due to the increased number of passengers as a result of the 9-euro ticket, the metronome prohibits taking bicycles, handcarts and the like with you.
  • The ban applies from Thursday to Monday.
  • This should make it difficult for many to travel to the Hurricane Festival by train.

In a few days, the Hurricane Festival will start in Scheeßel, Lower Saxony. Many of you will probably choose to travel by train this year. Because with the Metronom regional train, Scheeßel station can be reached from Hamburg in 45 minutes without having to change trains with a 9-euro ticket. But the savings on arrival are sometimes eaten up by the high cost of local beer.

The reason for this is a new regulation by the operating company regarding the carriage of bicycles and handcarts. This is prohibited on all Metronom trains from Thursday, June 16, 4 a.m. to Monday, June 20, 11 p.m. According to a company press release, the ban also applies to similar items such as folding transport trolleys or hand trucks.

Appropriate means of transport are often used by festival-goers to transport cheap cans of beer on pallets. This is no longer possible. You can only take what you can carry or what fits in the trolley case, which is not so easy to pull over the rough terrain in Scheeßel.

Only kiosk on site, several supermarkets in Scheeßel

Doubly annoying: this year there is no supermarket on the festival site where you can shop cheaply on site. There is only one kiosk where a can of beer costs 1.50 euros. Otherwise you can only buy at one of the stands on the site. Here the price is usually much higher. There are several supermarkets in Scheeßel itself, but they are a good walk from the site at almost four kilometers.

The metronome justifies the decision with the expected rush. The trains are always full during the hurricane, and this year the effect of the “9-euro ticket” would be even better. “It’s going to be tight and we hope everyone will be considerate of each other,” the metronome said in the press release.

Alternatively, you can also follow the hurricane in the live stream from the sofa at home.
