From Thursday to Sunday the Southside and Hurricane Festivals take place. Here is the most important information about bands, tickets and how to get there.

With the Hurricane and the Southside, two of the biggest festivals in Germany are taking place again this weekend. Thousands of music fans will once again gather in Lower Saxony and Baden-Württemberg to celebrate extensively. Here you will find the most important information about the festivals.

How to get there: Where are the festivals held?

The Southside Festival takes place in Neuhausen ob Eck in Baden-Württemberg. If you want to travel by train, you can currently use the Germany ticket (49 euro ticket). However, getting there this way is likely to prove complicated. “We know that this year, unfortunately, there will again be restrictions in terms of accessibility to Tuttlingen station,” it says on the festival’s website.

Loud SWR is currently available on the railway lines several construction sites in the region. Anyone who wants to use the so-called Gäubahn, for example, is dependent on rail replacement services because of a track expansion between Horb and Neckarhausen. Delays on the railway line between Ulm and Tuttlingen are also to be expected. A shuttle bus takes visitors from the train station to the festival – and back.

As the broadcaster reports, the police also expect traffic obstructions in the greater Tuttlingen area. The organizers ask festival visitors who arrive by car, motorbike or mobile home not to listen to navigation systems in the vicinity of the festival, but to follow the signs.

Also at the Getting to the hurricane in Scheeßel in Lower Saxony – between Hamburg and Bremen – overcrowded trains and delays when arriving by car and train are to be expected due to thousands of visitors. The private railway company Metronom has about for the festival a special timetable with additional stops set up at Scheeßel train station.

How do I find my way around the festival?

Where is which stage? Where are the restrooms? And where can I find lockers? There are maps of the site for visitors on the festival websites, which are intended to answer such questions as quickly and easily as possible.

Which acts are performing?

The two festivals typically feature performances by largely identical acts, each on a different day. Numerous big names have been announced for both festivals this year as well.

An exception is Thursday. It starts on June 15th with warm-up parties before the festival really gets going on Friday. Antje Schomaker, Rogers, Zuzug Masculine and then Querbeat will play at the Hurricane on Thursday from 8 p.m. The Southside also starts at 8 p.m. with Rikas, Schmutzki, Frittenbude and finally Beauty & the Beats.
