HRS, RECOGNIZED FOR ITS INNOVATION AMBITIONS
IN R&D, SECURED €3.1M IN SUBSIDIES
Grenoble, December 19, 2022 – HRS, European designer and manufacturer of hydrogen refueling stations
announces that it has received non-refundable grants totaling €3.1 million, linked to two European research and development projects and aid from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region for its new production and R&D site in Champagnier in the Grenoble basin.
The two European projects, RHeaDHy and H2REF-DEMO, co-financed by the European Union’s Horizon Europe Program under the “Clean Hydrogen Partnership” initiative, which total €2.3 million in R&D grants for
HRS
out of a total amount of approximately €10 million, are aimed at the development of compression systems which will make it possible to deliver several hundred kilograms of hydrogen per hour, in order to meet the needs of heavy hydrogen mobility.
HRS
was respectively the main and the second beneficiary in terms of amounts on these two projects.
RHeaDHy will focus on the heavy vehicle refueling process with the design of key components that will ensure very fast hydrogen refill rates that can reduce current refueling times by 5 times. Supported by a European consortium, RheaDHy represents an important step in unlocking the market for H2 trucks by enabling the establishment of an extensive and efficient network of refueling stations, in line with the European ambition for refueling infrastructures. decarbonized.
H2REF-DEMO aims to support the deployment of very large capacity hydrogen refueling stations, capable of reaching capacities of several hundred kg/h for the refueling of bus, truck and train fleets. Besides increasing station capacity, H2REF-DEMO will focus on optimizing processes, reducing costs and increasing sustainability. The knowledge acquired will make it possible to accelerate towards a European commercial deployment.
HRS
also received a grant of nearly €0.9 million from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region for its new production and R&D site in Champagnier, representing 20% of eligible expenses. This support within the framework of the “Solution Région Création – Setting up in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes” program is intended for the purchase of various industrial production equipment. The production center will be delivered at the start of 2023 and the offices at the end of the first half of 2023. This 14,300 m² space, unique in Europe, on a 2.6 hectare site, will meet the strong acceleration in demand by increasing production capacity to 180 stations per year, a single test area, a hydrogen refueling station for all types of vehicle and green hydrogen production .
Hassen Rachedi, Founder and CEO of HRS said
: “
The selection of HRS at the heart of major European consortia further accentuates our weight in the hydrogen sector and marks a new recognition of its unique know-how in innovation in terms of hydrogen mobility and the design of large-capacity hydrogen stations. At the same time, the support of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region will allow us to support our industrial footprint and thus have large production capacities to supply tomorrow a European network of large-capacity hydrogen refueling stations. »
Laurent Wauquiez, President of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region
:
“The Region supports companies that set up in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and that innovate. Hydrogen is a solution for the future that makes it possible to decarbonize mobility and its intensive uses. These are larger-scale infrastructures and a territorial network that must be deployed. We are proud to support companies which, like HRS, invent solutions for a positive ecology and create jobs in our Region. »
RHeadHY project (Grant agreement N° 101101443) and H2REF-DEMO project (Grant agreement N° 101101517) are co-funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe program under the Clean Hydrogen Partnership |
