A few weeks before the formalization of OnePlus Open, the brand’s first folding smartphone, it could be that the launch date of the device is not what we thought.

If you’ve been waiting impatiently to see OnePlus’ first folding box with your own eyes, we have good and bad news for you.

OnePlus Open: a change hardware which could cause delay

Let’s start with the good news first: according to journalist Max Jambor, who notably revealed the name of OnePlus’ first folding device, the Chinese company could finally make some last-minute changes to the screens of its flexible smartphone. According to his information, the manufacturer would draw a line under the BOE slabs and would finally decide to partner with Samsung. If the real reason behind this reversal remains unknown, Samsung’s panels would better meet the needs of OnePlus with its folding device.

Last year, due to low yields, BOE reportedly quietly limited the specifications of the iPhone screens it manufactured, reports us. 9to5Mac. This could therefore have played a role in OnePlus’ decision to go to Samsung for the design of its screens instead.

As you can imagine, these hardware changes could directly disrupt the brand’s plans. While the OnePlus Open should have initially come to an end on August 29, we will obviously have to wait a little longer before the smartphone reveals itself to us from all angles and lands in our hands. For now, the new launch date has not yet been disclosed.
