It is on this date that Hyundai will open pre-orders in Germany, France, Norway, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom of the Ioniq 6, the electric sportivo-GT sedan nicknamed Streamliner by the Korean manufacturer. We recently had the opportunity to discover it as part of a European tour.
Pre-orders will concern 2500 Ioniq 6 First Edition spread over the five European countries named above. The Korean manufacturer is only following the trend of the moment, namely to initially offer limited editions commonly called “First Edition”. This is not his first attempt, since when the Ioniq 5 was released, a limited Project 45 series was launched.
This Ioniq 6 First Edition will be equipped with the largest battery capacity, ie 77 kWh, to power the two electric motors, including one per axle developing 239 kW (325 hp – 605 Nm torque). The announced range is 519 km. Hyundai preferred to focus on power.
Who says limited series, says special endowment. This Ioniq 6 First Edition is no exception to the rule. The electric sedan is fitted with 20-inch wheels in matte black finish. It features distinctive exterior elements such as aluminum front and rear logos, as well as front and rear guards, rocker lines and gloss black exterior mirrors.
The interior is not to be outdone with leather upholstery as well as fabric and floor mats personalized with the gray Scottish pattern called Tartan. We must believe that it is the fashion of the moment since the Renault 5 Turbo 3E E-Tech concept was also equipped with tartan fabric.
This Hyundai Ioniq 6 First Edition is available in four colors, but in limited numbers. Thus Biophilic Blue, a kind of mauve, has 25 copies, against 50 for Serenity White (ice white), 75 for Nocturne Gray and 100 for Gravity Gold (matte paint).
Finally, a small gift with a free one-year subscription to the Ionity Premium charging network, whose charging rate will be €0.29/kWh.
However, a big unknown remains. This is the price of this limited version, which has not yet been communicated. Except in the United Kingdom, where this Ioniq 6 First Edition is sold at €64,080.
It remains to be seen whether this Hyundai Ioniq 6 First Edition will be similar to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 Project 45, limited to 3,000 units and which had attracted some 236,000 people in one week.
