Article updated on June 22: Hyundai continues the teasing of its Ioniq 6 with a new sketch that allows you to see the lines of this future electric car a little better. The drawing put online by Hyundai allows you to better appreciate the really very aerodynamic lines of the car. The Korean brand plans to fully reveal the interior and exterior of the car by the end of the month. Still a little patience.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 teaser

It has already been more than a year since the Hyundai Ioniq 5 was officially unveiled to the general public, a few weeks before its technical cousin, the Kia EV6. First model of the new range created by the Korean firm, the electric crossover should not remain alone for long in the catalog. Indeed, it’s been some time that we talk about the arrival of a larger model, called Ioniq 6 and which should take the form of a sedan. If Hyundai had not yet communicated about it, it is now done while the brand has just unveiled a first teaser most likely announcing an impending reveal.

Everything for aero

In this short video of about thirty seconds, no image of the car. Because Hyundai wishes here to highlight a very particular aspect of this newcomer: its aerodynamics. Several shots follow one another then, illustrating various objects and buildings having a common point, their refined form, like that which the future Ioniq 6 should have. electrified streamliner“, understanding an electrified aerodynamic object.

The Korean firm highlights “the silhouette of a new era”, which should therefore be found on future models in the range. If we still know very little about the electric sedan itself, it should be inspired by the Prophecy concept, without going so far in stylistic expression. The production version should indeed be more conventional, while retaining certain elements of the style study unveiled in 2020.

A common platform

According to our American colleagues from Motor1, the new Hyundai Ioniq 6 should be based on the E-GMP platform of the Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. If this information must be taken with a grain of salt, the sedan would then carry a 77.4 kWh battery, while several versions would be offered, including one equipped with two motors for a total power of around 300 horsepower. Another variant N, sharing its characteristics with the future Kia EV6 GT and its 585 horsepower, could see the light of day. Its aerodynamics could allow greater efficiency and autonomy than its cousins.

Future rival of the Tesla Model 3, this Hyundai Ioniq 6 should be equipped with 800 volt technology and could withstand a load of up to 240 kW. Rumor has it that the electric sedan could be officially revealed within the next few weeks. It should then begin its marketing in the course of next year.
