Hyundai launches its Ioniq 6 in France, at the same price as the Tesla Model 3, but with a meager stock

Hyundai has just launched pre-orders for the Hyundai Ioniq 6 in France. The new electric car from the Korean manufacturer is finally available, but beware, since only 250 copies are reserved for France for these pre-orders. The note is salty, from 62,500 euros.

Pre-orders for the Hyundai Ioniq 6 in France have just started. As expected, there will only be 250 copies available for France. At European level, 2,500 copies of the electric car are marketed.

Same price as a Tesla Model 3

This launch is also an opportunity to know the price of the Korean newcomer. It is quite close to the leaks we had across the Channel. It is thus a question of 62,500 euros for this Hyundai IONIQ 6 77 kWh HTRAC First Edition (SE). Too bad, because the ecological bonus of 2,000 euros is not available for electric cars sold for more than 60,000 euros.

Unless you succeed in negotiating with the dealer… Which is still possible even if Hyundai specifies that the price is “ estimated, taking into account the maximum recommended price to the Authorized Distributor and any discounts linked to the brand’s commercial policy“. And with only 250 copies available, we imagine that the room for maneuver will be limited.

Many options and a good autonomy

For this price, there are many options, such as matrix LED headlights, 360° view for maneuvers, level 2 autonomous driving, head-up display, sunroof, heated seats , Bose speakers, etc.

As a reminder, the technical sheet announces a range of 519 km thanks to the battery with a capacity of 77.4 kWh, with a quick charge in just 18 minutes (on 800 volt terminals) with a peak power of 239 kW. The combined consumption on the WLTP cycle is announced at 16.9 kWh / 100 km. We can’t wait to see the versions that promise more than 600 km of autonomy, surely with rims much smaller than the 20 inches of this first edition.

The power is there, with 325 horsepower and a torque of 605 Nm on the four-wheel drive, making it possible to shoot down the 0 to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds before reaching the maximum speed of 185 km/h. h.

Delivered from spring 2023

Deliveries of this first edition should take place between March and April 2023. In the coming weeks, Hyundai will also open orders for the other editions, which we hope will be more affordable.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 versus Tesla Model 3

Faced with the competition, we can cite the Tesla Model 3 Grande Autonomie, sold for 62,490 euros, or only 10 euros less than this Ioniq 6. For the price, we certainly have fewer options and a slower charge, but a better autonomy (between 602 and 626 km depending on rim size) and therefore lower WLTP consumption (16 kWh / 100 km) and even higher performance. And above all, full access to the network of Superchargers.

Remember also that the Hyudai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 still encounter problems for charging on Tesla terminals, Superchargers v2. For its part, the Korean manufacturer offers the Ionity Premium subscription free for one year. What save a hundred euros.
