Hyudai is very proud to unveil today the design of the second model in its IONIQ electric range.

After the IONIQ 5 SUV, make way for a much more dynamic model, and called… IONIQ 6!

The Hyundai IONIQ 6 shows off its look

A few weeks ago, we learned the end of production of the Hyundai Ioniq, launched 6 years ago. A model which has bowed out, and which leaves a legacy of a name (IONIQ) which will be used to baptize new 100% electric vehicles from Hyundai. The manufacturer already offers an IONIQ 5 SUV, and today it is the turn of the new IONIQ 6 to display its design.

Exit the SUV, make way for a sportier, more aerodynamic silhouette. An IONIQ 6 which also has a lowered bow, active air flaps at the front or even a small spoiler at the rear, so as to boost aerodynamics and achieve a drag coefficient of 0.21. A model directly inspired by the Prophecy electric concept.

True to its resolutely customer-centric strategy, Hyundai designs each of its models for very different lifestyles rather than opting for a one-size-fits-all styling approach. This is why IONIQ 6 differs very clearly from IONIQ 5 as it is based on the same E-GMP platform. “explains the brand.

On board, the new IONIQ 6 is described as a personal living space, with an optimized field for the legs to put the driver and passengers at ease. The platform also allows for a completely flat floor, while the user-centric interior architecture is reflected in the ergonomic design of the center console, located in the center of the cabin.

The modular dashboard incorporates a fully touch-sensitive display and a digital instrument cluster, as well as two 12″ screens.

Eco-friendly materials for the IONIQ 6

Hyundai designers also say they used sustainable materials for the exterior, including pigment paint recycled from used tires on the exterior moldings and pigment paint made from bamboo charcoal on the body.

The interior upholstery is not to be outdone, with in particular eco-leather and recycled PET fabric for the seats, and bio-sourced TPO trim for the dashboard (depending on the trim levels). You can also claim organic paint derived from vegetable oils for the doors, as well as a carpet made of recycled fishing nets.

The full presentation of this new Hyundai IONIQ 6 is scheduled for next month.
