While he previously revealed that he “hated” working on the GI Joe franchise, Channing Tatum now admits to having “begged” to be killed off in the second installment.
Channing Tatum is gearing up for one last dance as Magic Mike, but ahead of the release of the franchise’s third installment, Magic Mike’s Last Dance, the actor returned to one of his first mainstream roles that he didn’t never failed to criticize.
In 2009, we had indeed been able to discover him in the role of Duke, the first sergeant of the GI Joe team in GI Joe – The awakening of the Cobra. The actor then briefly appeared in the sequel, GI Joe – Conspiracy (2013).
As Collider reports, the actor, who recently went polygraph for Vanity Fair, opened up about his experience on the two films based on the famous Hasbro figurines, starting with the first, revealing that he had never wanted to participate in the franchise from the start.
The first film, I refused it seven times. The studio had an option on me and I had to do the movie. As for the second one, I obviously didn’t want to do that one either, so yeah, I asked to be killed off within the first ten minutes of the movie.
