According to the producers of the saga, the third part of “Sicario” will see the light of day and will mark the return of Benicio Del Toro in his cult role!
In an interview with The Messenger (via ComingSoon), Sicario saga producers Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee confirmed that a third film was still in the works with Benicio del Toro.
According tothe film was being written when the writers’ strike began in May 2023: “It was ‘put down your pens’ but the idea is brilliant”.
added : “I can’t wait to see Sicario 3. I could watch Benicio play this guy forever. I mean, I can watch Benicio in anything, but with this character, it doesn’t get old.”
THE SICARIO FRANCHISE
Directed by Denis Villeneuve (Dune), the firstwas released in 2015. Starring Emily Blunt, Josh Brolin, Daniel Kaluuya and Jon Bernthal, the film grossed $85 million at the worldwide box office (against a budget of $30 million) and garnered Academy Award nominations for Best Cinematography, Best Original Score and best sound editing.
Sicario The Cartel Wars followed in 2018. Althoughdidn’t come back for this sequel, we were able to find And , both joined by Isabela Merced, Catherine Keener and Shea Whigham. The film, directed by Stefano Sollima, grossed $75.8 million at the worldwide box office (against an estimated budget of between $35 and $45 million).
As for Sicario 3, producer Trent Luckinbill told Screenrant in 2018 that the feature film was “absolutely” going to happen. In April 2023, however,cast doubt on the project, telling Variety: “Sicario 3, we tried to get it right and move it forward, but why didn’t that happen? How long can you wait? A difficult film to make even if both made money. People ask me that all the time.”
