After participating in permanent hair removal sessions in a major French brand, several women have noticed that they are victims of marks or burns. Legal action could be taken to warn about the risks of this type of hair removal.
A leg treatment gone wrong. This Monday, October 24, Ouest-France reported the testimony ofElisea woman victim of severe burns after participating in permanent hair removal sessions in an institute in Angers, Maine-et-Loire. At the same time, several other women also insured in a group Facebook have been victims of failed hair removalsee dangerous.
According to BFMTV, more than a dozen women would have expressed the wish to lodge a complaint against the Dépil Tech brand, one of the giants of the sector, where they all experienced a mishap. Some of them, like Élise, even had second-degree burns.
“I fear that the brands will remain forever”
The facts date back to the beginning of 2022. After a first session which went normally, Élise confided that she had first burns during his second session in June. But it was during a third session, in September, that she was the victim of significant suffering. “It burned me a lot. I was asked if it felt like running an iron over my leg, before reducing the intensity for the other leg. I was in pain, but I trusted”explained the young woman to bone conferees of Ouest-France, before adding: “I had extreme pain. I couldn’t sleep anymore”.
Élise therefore went to see a doctor who confirmed that she had suffered second-degree burns. For a month, the young woman has therefore had to treat herself with fat, creams or strips but “the marks are still visible. I’m afraid it will stay forever”, she worries. If she has not yet filed a complaint, Élise has nevertheless contacted a lawyer. “It’s serious, it’s incompetence”she lamented in the regional daily.
According to a dermatologist contacted by BFMTV, Élise’s tan could be the cause of the hair removal dysfunction. “The patient presented with a tan that was not detected by the person who treated her (…) so this causes epidermolysis, that is to say a destruction of the epidermis which contains the tan, the pigment”explained the specialist.
