Only three months after his arrival at BFMTV, Laurent Ruquier has just announced his departure from the channel. The host spoke on Instagram and mentioned in particular the low audiences for his show.
After his departure from France Televisions during summer, Laurent Ruquier immediately announced that he would join the channel BFMTV. On September 25, 2023, the famous host took control of a new show called The 8 p.m. of Ruquier, broadcast Monday to Thursday. Surrounded by guests and columnists, the host then returned to the news during an hour punctuated by debates.
And if a month after his arrival on BFMTVLaurent Ruquier assured that “everything is going well”, he then began to make comments about his salary. “I didn’t make a financial deal! Just by doing only Children of TV this season on France 2, as the channel wanted, I would have earned a better living than on BFMTV. It’s not the money that motivates me. I have already earned a good living” he declared for example during an interview given to Leisure TV.

This Tuesday, December 26, 2023, only three months after his arrival at the BFMTV channel, Laurent Ruquier announces, against all expectations, his departure. “I have decided not to continue the adventure started at the end of September on BFM TV. I would like to thank Marc-Olivier Fogiel for the trust he placed in me – and which he wished to renew in me until the end of the season – but I prefer to stop there. I could hide behind the international situation and the dramatic news which certainly did not make my task easier when I arrived, but it is clear that the public did not follow me as much as we hoped in this different role In my opinion. I do not regret having chosen BFM TV after having had to leave France Télévision last June” he said on his Instagram account.
“I lived these three months as a fascinating experience and, if we have nothing to be ashamed of the audiences obtained in one quarter, it is clear that they do not live up to my expectations either nor, for me, from the daily work that it represents. I have so much satisfaction with radio and Grosses Têtes on RTL, writing for the Theater or producing artists, that I only wish to continue doing television provided that the pleasure is shared with the viewers. I wish you happy end-of-year holidays and I’ll see you soon on RTL” he then concluded.
