“I don’t forget where I come from”: this actor revealed by Spielberg gave the most moving speech of the Golden Globes 2023

The Golden Globes ceremony, which was held on the night of January 10 to 11, was emotionally charged! Ke Huy Quan, one of the heroes of the film Everything Everywhere All At Once, delivered a very touching speech on stage.

The action comedy Everything Everywhere All At Once was one of the big winners of the 80th Golden Globes ceremony, winning two major awards: best actress in a comedy for Michelle Yeoh and best actor in a supporting role for Ke Huy Quan.

Going to get his prize on stage, the actor, revealed in 1984 in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, delivered a powerful and moving speech.

“I was raised to never forget where I came from and to always remember who gave me my first opportunity”did he declare. “I’m so happy to see Steven Spielberg, here, tonight. Steve, thank you”he continued, tears in his eyes.

For his part, the director was crowned with the prizes for best director and best dramatic film for The Fabelmans. From his chair, he blew kisses at Ke Huy Quan before meeting him for a hug during the commercials.

If the actor is full of praise for Spielberg, it’s because the filmmaker gave him a chance by hiring him in The Temple of Doom at the age of 12. He held the role of Demi-Lune. The following year, in 1985, the director also trusted him to camp Data in The Goonies.

Subsequently, the actor was faced with crossing the desert. “I started to wonder if this was the end already. For so many years I was afraid that I had nothing left to offer, that whatever I did, I would never exceed what I accomplished as a child”said Ke Huy Quan.

“Fortunately, more than 30 years later, two guys thought of me. They remembered this child and gave me the opportunity to try again”he concluded, referring to Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan, directors of Everything Everywhere All At Once.

Released in theaters on August 31 in France, the film quickly became a phenomenon. It tells the story of Evelyn Wang, played by Michelle Yeoh. She is exhausted and no longer understands her family, her work and is drowning in taxes…

Suddenly, she finds herself immersed in the multiverse, parallel worlds where she explores all the lives she could have led. Faced with dark forces, she alone can save the world but also preserve the most precious thing: her family. Ke Huy Quan plays Waymond, her husband.

Note that we will find the 51-year-old comedian in season 2 of Loki.
