“I don’t think I’ll get another chance to play a character like that”: John Krasinski already regrets this role

Actor and director, John Krasinski has played iconic characters, including Jack Ryan. But the star was sad to say goodbye to such a hero.

Revealed thanks to his role as Jim Halpert in the series The Office, John Krasinski has since distinguished himself in numerous films, between comedy and action. He also stood out as a director by launching the horror franchise Without a Sound, the next spin-off of which is arriving soon.

But there is another role in the series which marked his career and to which he had to say goodbye last year, that of Jack Ryan, in the series of the same name from the literary saga of Tom Clancy.

Sad goodbyes to Jack Ryan

After four seasons, the adventures of Jack Ryan, a promising CIA analyst responsible for dangerous missions in the field, have come to an end on Prime Video. And John Krasinski had a hard time leaving this character, as he explained to AdoroCinema :

“I don’t think I’ll get another chance to play a character like this. He was my favorite character since I was little, both in the movies and the books. I had a feeling Bit bittersweet saying goodbye to this opportunity.”

Prime Video

In the fourth and final season of Jack Ryan, the character matured a lot and he became acting deputy director of the CIA, who leads the investigation into the cases of corruption that plague the agency. A development that John Krasinski greatly appreciated:

“It’s been really fun to play a character who starts out with a certain sense of morality, and then questions it every day, to see how he handles everything. I think that reflects the world around us.”

Soon a film with Ryan Reynolds

Even if the actor, screenwriter and filmmaker is sad to have left this emblematic character, he does not have time to mourn him for long since he returns in a few months with a new production in which he notably directs his friend Ryan Reynolds.

Expected in theaters on May 15, Blue & Company is a family adventure comedy about a little girl, Bea, who discovers one day that she can see everyone’s imaginary friends. Then begins a magical adventure to reconnect each child with their forgotten imaginary friend.

The 4 seasons of Jack Ryan are available on Prime Video.
