"I educate my son as if he is gay until he decides whether he is straight or not"

Invited for a zoom interview with Ellen DeGeneres on March 8, the flagship Modern Family actor opened up about his eight-month-old son and how he's educating him.

There is no such thing as a parenting rule. Each family is different and each parent educates their child as they wish. This is especially what Jesse Tyler Ferguson reminded us during an interview with Ellen DeGeneres on March 8. The Modern Family star has indeed opened up about his new role as a father. He is the father of an eight month old baby boy with his partner Justin Mitika.

In particular, the actor revealed that he wanted a child for a long time. However, he was waiting for his spouse, who was 10 years younger, to be ready too. In July 2020, they finally became parents. "This is someone new coming into your life and you have to learn to love him like anyone else who comes into your daily life. It takes a while but we had a lot of fun, I love it ", he said at first.

"He can be who he wants to be"

Jesse Tyler Ferugson then opened up about how he educates his son. "We educate him as if he was gay, until he has decided whether he is heterosexual or not", he said. "When we got home from the hospital (where their child was born), we put on Britney Spears because Justin wanted to. It was the baby's first time listening to music ", he added.

Mitchell's interpreter was keen to dot the i's – he doesn't care about his child's sexual orientation. "With Justin, we were talking about it, and we're sure he's going to be straight. But who knows? He can be who he wants to be ", he said. The only thing the actor dreads: learning to play football with him … He's not there yet.
