Karin Viard is the new guest of the podcast “Le Goût de M” proposed by M The magazine of the world. The actress starring this summer of films Tokyo Shaking (indoors), Fantasies (August 18) and The origin of the world (September 15) answered questions from journalist and producer Geraldine Sarratia.
Karin Viard tells unvarnished how loneliness and boredom marked her childhood, the shame, the rejection, the atrocious memories of Christmas…. After the separation of her parents, she left Oran in Algeria to find Rouen where she was born and lives in an apartment rue du Fardeau, “What made the heyday of my shrink”. Very quickly, her mother abandons them, her and her sister. She was then raised by her grandparents in a “Universe of the elderly”. A little wild child, she will use laughter to try to fit in. Deeply marked by her humble origins and the lean years when she arrived in Paris, she says she has “Lived in a bitter way the humiliation of class”.
Viewing the film at age 9 Notre Dame of Paris with Gina Lollobrigida and especially Anthony Quinn in Quasimodo decides his vocation. “He shattered the walls of my existence. He gave me such a strong emotion. I said to myself I want to do this. ” This “Emotional capacity” has guided his entire career from Aunty Danielle at Soft song Passing by Top hearts and his collaborations with many young directors. The cinema has taught her to love herself more, she who has “The taste of joy as a courtesy towards the other”. She likes nothing more than ambivalent characters, whom she approaches by leaving aside the moral, which “Express what is worst and best in humans”. Two extremes that have crossed his life.
