In an autobiographical book to be published on Wednesday April 5, 2023, several extracts from which were unveiled by the JDD, Florent Pagny revealed that he was shocked by the confidences of three close friends following the announcement of his cancer.
The year 2022 has not been easy for Florent Pagny, who had to fight against a lung cancer using a chemotherapy protocol. As a reminder, the singer was diagnosed with this terrible disease towards the end of 2021, while he was in the middle of recording the new season of The Voice for TF1, and that he had just started his anniversary tour to celebrate his 60th birthday. If the musician was able to ensure his role as coach during the filming of the tele-hook of the first channel, his chemotherapy treatment protocol forced him to cancel his big tour.
Knowing that this disease was going to have a significant impact on his daily life, Florent Pagny made the decision to come out into the open that he was suffering from lung cancer, through a video posted on his Instagram account. This media exposure of his disease had some positive repercussions, which the singer listed in an autobiographical bookwhich will appear in bookstores on Wednesday April 5, 2023. In some excerpts published on Sunday April 2, 2023 by the JDD, Florent Pagny assures that the medical staff who followed him were satisfied with his initiative. “I was able to realize how this disease, however present, frequent, is still taboo” he wrote.

“Exposing myself in this way allowed, for some, to free speech“, added the musician. Within this book, Florent Pagny also revealed that after revealing his illness in broad daylight on social networks, three of his close friends told him that they too suffered from a cancer. “They had so far kept it to themselves, having chosen to settle their thing in their corner. I fell from the clouds. If they had talked about it, we could have surrounded them“, specified the musician, before adding: “Many patients do not say it around them. They are afraid, if they speak about it, that there will be consequences“.
