In a recent interview with GQ reviewing her career, Kirsten Dunst evokes fond memories of filming Interview with the Vampire, a fantastic adaptation of Anne Rice’s novel starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt.

For the older among you, you will certainly have recognized the synopsis of the wonderful film Interview with the Vampire. Carried by its vampire duo in the guise of Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, the film will be a great success in France, with 1.63 million admissions. And even at the worldwide Box Office, with more than $223 million in revenue.
If she had started her career in 1989 in front of Woody Allen’s camera, the very young Kirsten Dunst, aged 12, was really revealed by Neil Jordan’s film. She was also chosen from some 5,000 candidates to play Claudia, a creature of darkness condemned to remain in a child’s body.
If she declared that she “hated kissing Brad Pitt” at the time of the film’s release in an interview, she nevertheless kept fond memories of filming the film. In a recent interview with GQ, thanks to the promotion of her new film Civil War, the actress happily brushed aside the notable roles of her career. Including that ofInterview with a Vampire.
“I felt like Brad’s little sister”
“The sets were incredible. The effects and stunts – everything was done by hand. And then shooting in New Orleans, Paris and London for one production… the days when you could make movies like this one is [malheureusement] definitively over” she comments.
“I was very protected on the set” she continues. “I felt like Brad’s little sister, and Tom made me feel like a princess. For Christmas, he put a beautiful Christmas tree in my wardrobe. They both spoiled me in a way that was absolutely adorable”.
A protective mother
Given the very nature of the film and especially her young age, her mother prevented her from seeing the film at the time. “I don’t think I’ve seen the whole thing.” she remembers. “I sat next to my mom, and she covered my eyes for a lot of the movie!
When I think about that movie… My God, we were literally vampires. We only lived at night. We shot at night – exclusively. It was weird getting up at three in the afternoon and doing my homework before going to work!”
