I promise you: this unexpected “cameo” of a star of French song in season 3

In season 3 of “I promise you”, Florence takes part in a singing competition in Toulouse, in 1974, and one of the participants is none other than Francis Cabrel! But did you know that the singer really won a radio hook… in Toulouse, in 1974?

Monday April 3, 2023, TF1 launches the broadcast of the third season of I promise you, from 9:10 p.m. In this salvo of new episodes, the Gallos once again explore their past, experience the present in a whirlwind of emotions and lay the foundations for their future…

“I promise you” season 3, here we go!

During the two parts offered during this evening, the triplets are first of all reunited to celebrate their 40th birthday. But an argument explodes highlighting the weaknesses of each! Maud (Marilou Berry) is unable to have a child despite her attempts. Mathis (Narcisse Mame) becomes unbearable for his family in his role as father at home and Michaël (Guillaume Labbé, who answered our questions) is unable to build a life as a couple…

But that’s not all because viewers also go back in time, to the time when Paul (Hugo Becker) and Florence (Camille Lou) met in 1974. As they get to know each other, Florence perceives in Paul gray areas that he doesn’t want to reveal… The next day, Paul accompanies Florence to a radio hook-up in Toulouse. He takes advantage of this excursion to visit a woman with whom he shares painful memories…

A “cameo” by Francis Cabrel

During the passage of the lovebirds in the Pink City, the character embodied by Camille Lou (soon in Anthracite on Netflix) tries his luck in a singing competition organized in a public square. Before going on stage, the young woman observes one of her competitors: this one is none other than Francis Cabrel… or almost!

In the form of a wink, the singer (played here by actor Léo Barbenes) appears in I promise you and pushes the song, playing a title that was to become one of his greatest hits. Little Marie. But did you know that this passage of the series is inspired by the real story of the artist?

Capture TF1

In Toulouse, in June 1974, Francis Cabrel had indeed participated in a competition set up by Sud Radio. His piece, dedicated to his wife Mariette Darjo, allowed him to win the competition against 400 participants! He had also won the sum of 2000 francs.

A true-false “cameo” of the singer in I promise you, therefore!
