“I saw my son on the sidewalk”: Yannick Alléno returns to the discovery of his son’s body

Four months after the tragic death of his son, Yannick Alléno spoke. The chef delivers the details of the accident which cost the life of Antoine Alléno.

It has already been four months, four long months, that Yannick Alléno lives without his son. On the evening of Sunday May 8, Antoine Alléno lost his life. At 24, the young cook died hit by a driver in the middle of Paris. After stealing a vehicle from a luxury restaurant in the 7th arrondissement, the fugitive got into the young man’s scooter, stopped at a red light. Yannick Alléno’s son died instantly. Warned very quickly by the emergency services, the starred chef went to the scene of the accident and will never be able to forget the images he saw there. “I saw my son on the sidewalk. It was extremely painful, he explained to TF1. It’s true that you enter a period, after the death of a child… a world that we do not know.”

With our colleagues, Yannick Alléno returned in detail to the accident which cost the life of his son whom he loved so much. “It’s true that Antoine was hit by a very powerful car, very quickly. At least he had no choice, he died instantly. He couldn’t get out of it”, he explained, overwhelming with sincerity. And to add: “Afterwards, I said to myself, if this car had an automatic clamping system, as you can do on scooters, when you arrive in Paris… You are in an urban environment, your car cannot exceed 50 km/h… is it feasible? I would like to ask the question and see if we can protect ourselves”. As our colleagues report, the relatives of Antoine Alléno were not even able to gather as they wanted sinceat the forensic institute, they could only see his remains through glass.

Yannick Alléno: “You see your kid behind glass”

“We arrived at the Hôtel-Dieu hospital in Paris. A gloomy room, with a dilapidated chair. We were handed a piece of paper, the contact of a person in case we needed psychological support. And then that’s all. Not even a glass of water. At 3 o’clock in the morning, all three of us left on our ownremembered Yannick Alléno in the columns of the Journal du dimanche on September 18th. The next day you want to see your child. It happens at the forensic institute, a sordid building behind the Gare de Lyon. You see your kid behind glass.” Devastated by the death of his son, Yannick Alléno had quickly taken the floor to announce the creation of an association for “support the victims of repeat offenders” like Anthony.

“Since May 8, the death of Antoine, I have already had the opportunity to speak to 40 people who, since the beginning of the year, have lost their child in the same conditions as mine. a monumental mess for our society, for our country, he told TF1. I call them the pearls of the Republic. But the pearls, when you cut the thread, it falls out. There, the thread is cut, and every day it falls. I find it unbearable that these little pearls that fall every day, we don’t talk about them. We don’t even say their name, their first name.” Disappointed by the lack of action taken to stop this scourge, Yannick Alléno decided to act at his level : “Antoine, thanks to his name, what he represented and what I was able to do with my life as a cook, had significant media visibility. For the others, it’s three lines in a newspaper. It ends at the bottom of a trash can. We can’t put that under the rug, it’s not possible. It’s too unfair”.

She is an artist, still a student at the Beaux-Arts, who has a small graphic design business. She does not officially exist in relation to Antoineconfided the chef, determined to support the young woman in her mourning. Our family is there for her, we want her to be able to finish her studies. If we raise funds, we would like to help other young people in this situation.”
