After the leak of information in the media, the former star of 1 p.m. TF1 decided to speak on social networks. He confirms, in a video, to have lung cancer diagnosed last May. Already suffering from prostate cancer three years ago, Jean-Pierre Pernaut explains that he is doing well.

He decided to talk about it publicly. Journalist Jean-Pierre Pernaut talks about his lung cancer in a documentary which will be broadcast on C8 on Thursday evening. But faced with leaks in the press, the former star of 1 p.m. TF1 wanted to speak directly to the public, in a video posted on his Twitter account. “Just a quick note to thank everyone who sent me messages of encouragement this afternoon. Yep, there was a leak in the media announcing that I had lung cancer. That’s true. I learned about this disease last May”, he confirms.

“I thought it could only happen to others”

This diagnosis comes three years after the discovery of prostate cancer. Jean-Pierre Pernaut specifies that he underwent an operation and has now been treated by radiotherapy for several weeks for his lung cancer. “I was waiting a bit to talk about it. Today I’m very busy, I couldn’t accompany [ma femme] Nathalie, who came to talk about it with Cyril Hanouna”, apologizes the journalist.

“If I talk about it, it’s because you shouldn’t be afraid of cancer. I’ve already had one, prostate, you know. I had talked about it to try to improve prevention” , he continues. “Same thing for the lung! I thought it could only happen to others. For years and years I was told to quit smoking. I didn’t believe it. Well I would have had to stop.”

Jean-Pierre Pernaut continues to work on his magazine and to be on the air on LCI. “I will keep you posted, everything is fine for now. We are monitoring, everything is under control,” he reassures at the end of his video message.
