Asked this May 16 in Télématin about a former live at Michel Drucker, Axel Bauer remembered with nostalgia his “rebellious” state of mind at the time, and his gesture which visibly annoyed the host.
Rock has its reasons that reason ignores. At least that’s what it reminds Axel Bauerguest of Telematin this Monday, May 16. The French singer came to present his new album entitled Radio London, in reference to the legendary programs of the BBC, of which his father was one of the speakers. It is therefore filled with nostalgia that the artist agreed to comment in front of Julia Vignali on one of his first lives at Michael Drucker.
So in full interpretation of “Cargo“, the single that revealed him in 1983, Axel Bauer indulges in break the guitar which he holds in his hands. An emblematic gesture of the punk and rock scene, popularized by legendary groups such as the Who in the 1960s. But the subversive spirit is not for everyone. Michel Drucker would not have appreciated this rebellious touch, to the point of not inviting the singer back.
Axel Bauer: “I think he took it badly”
At least that’s what Axel Bauer suspects: “I think he took it badly because he never invited me back“, he notes with hindsight. The one who smiled at his clumsiness, seeing himself again at 22, a half-broken guitar in his hand, also made it clear that he knew nothing about the world of the PAF: “You know I was in a very rock circuit, I was not at all in a TV circuit […] It represented in my head the ‘establishment’ a bit, ‘fuck the system’, it’s a bit punk…“, he explained. A shift that will have contributed to his success. Cured of cancer, Axel Bauer has nourished some of his new songs with his experience.
