So that everyone can enjoy the family holiday, the choice of holiday destination needs to be well thought out. A ranking shows where children have the most to do – and where nothing at all.

Spring is finally here and the long holidays are already in sight! But what to do with the whole gang? Not only travel, accommodation and sights are decisive when choosing a travel destination, but also the leisure opportunities at the holiday destination: visit a safari park, go to the stadium of the world’s best football club or whiz down the longest water slide in the world – that’s it!

These two metropolises have the most to offer for families

The online marketplace “Traum-Ferienwohnungen” has investigated where the most leisure activities for children can be found. The offer is greatest in Rome and Vienna each with 98 attractions for the whole family. In Rome you can not only discover sights such as the Colosseum or St. Mark’s Basilica, but also take a rowing boat trip in Villa Borghese Park, put your hand in the creepy “Mouth of Truth” or in the “Cinecittà World” amusement park pass one or the other test of courage. In Vienna, of course, the Prater lures with its roller coaster “The Singed Sow” and the Schönbrunn Zoo as the oldest zoo in the world.

Germany is a good choice for families

But almost all of the German cities did well: 96 child-friendly offers were counted in Berlin, Frankfurt am Main, Hamburg, Cologne and Munich – from the aquarium to the largest model railway in the world to the public observatory in Munich. In a country comparison, Germany even takes first place, closely followed by Italy and France.

The rear lights: Poland, Sweden, Croatia

According to the study, however, in almost every third city in Europe there is not a single sight that could be classified as child-friendly. This applies above all to Polish, Swedish and Croatian cities, which are at the bottom of the ranking. And even in tourist strongholds such as Valencia, Bari or St. Pölten, families look in vain for offers that are also fun for children.
